Every week, people reach out to us after being cheated. They paid anywhere from ₹5,000 to ₹50,000 to someone who promised to settle their loan — and then disappeared. Or kept asking for more money. Or simply did nothing.
This article is not a sales pitch. It is a genuine guide to help you protect yourself — whether you work with SRYL Nexus or anyone else. The 5 checks below take less than 10 minutes. Do all of them before handing over a rupee to any debt consultant in India.
⚠️ Before you begin: If someone has already asked you to pay via personal UPI, a personal bank account, or any QR code not from an official company page — stop. That is a near-certain fraud signal. Do not send money.
Do they give you a written service agreement before payment?
This is the single most important check. A written agreement protects you legally. It defines exactly what the consultant will do, what you are paying for, and what happens if results are not achieved.
Fraudulent operators never offer a written agreement — because a signed document creates legal liability for them. They operate on trust and vague verbal promises. When things go wrong, you have nothing to show for the money you paid.
A legitimate consultant will:
- Provide a formal service agreement or MoU before you pay
- Clearly list the scope of work in the agreement
- Include their company name, registered address, and contact details on the agreement
- Give you time to read it before signing
- Send the signed agreement immediately after payment — not days later, not "soon", immediately
At SRYL Nexus, the moment payment is confirmed, you receive a signed service agreement immediately via our registered company email — sent from srylnexus.com — not hours later, not the next day, immediately. It specifies the scope, the lender being approached, and the timeline. You keep a signed copy.
Red flags on this point
- "We will send the agreement after you pay" — if it does not arrive within minutes of payment, that is a serious warning sign
- An agreement that uses vague language like "best efforts" with no specific scope
- No company letterhead, just a WhatsApp chat message with terms
- No onboarding communication after payment — silence after you pay is never acceptable
Are they asking you to pay into an official company account?
This check is non-negotiable. How a company collects payment tells you everything about whether it is legitimate.
A registered company collects money through its registered business bank account, under the company name. They may also use a QR code or payment link — but the beneficiary name on that link must be the company, not an individual.
The moment someone asks you to pay to a personal account — whether it is a phone number, a UPI ID like rahul123@paytm, or a bank account in an individual's name — stop completely. There is no scenario in which a legitimate business collects money this way.
- Beneficiary name on the account matches the company name
- Payment link or QR is shared from the official website or verified business WhatsApp
- You receive a receipt or payment confirmation from the company
- Never pay to a personal UPI handle, personal phone number, or individual's bank account
- Never pay in cash with no receipt
Can you verify their physical address?
Fraudulent operators exist only on WhatsApp. They have no office, no registered address, and no presence you can verify. When things go wrong, they simply block you and disappear.
A legitimate debt consultancy will have a verifiable registered address — even if it is in a different city or state from you. This is completely normal. The entire settlement process at SRYL Nexus is handled online, from the comfort of your home. You never need to visit an office or meet anyone in person. Clients across India — from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and beyond — work with us entirely over WhatsApp, phone, and email.
What matters is not where the office is located. What matters is that it exists and can be independently confirmed.
How to verify:
- Search the company name on Google Maps — a legitimate business will appear
- Confirm the address is listed on their official website, not just in a WhatsApp message
- Call the official number listed on their website — not just the number that first messaged you
- Check that emails come from a professional domain (e.g. @srylnexus.com), not a personal Gmail or Yahoo account
Red flags on this point
- No address anywhere on the website
- Address that returns no results on Google Maps
- Only reachable on WhatsApp — no listed phone number or professional email
- All communication comes from personal Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail accounts
SRYL Nexus Consulting is registered at 51/3/2A Strand Road, Kolkata 700007. You can find us on Google Maps, call our listed number, and email us at info@srylnexus.com — all before paying anything. And your entire case will be handled online, wherever in India you are.
Can they show you real proof of past settlements?
Anyone can claim to have settled thousands of loans. The question is whether they can show you proof — not stock images or made-up testimonials, but actual settlement letters or NOCs from real lenders.
Banks issue formal settlement letters when an OTS is completed. These letters have the bank's letterhead, the account number, the settlement amount, and a confirmation that the account is closed. A legitimate consultant who has done this work will have examples to show you — even if the client's personal details are blurred for privacy.
What to ask for and where to look:
- Ask to see sample settlement letters (blurred or redacted is fine)
- Check their social media — Instagram and YouTube are where real consultants share proof
- Look for Google Reviews and read what actual clients say — not just the rating
- Ask how many cases they have handled in your specific loan category
- Generic "we helped 10,000 clients" claims with no specific examples are not proof
SRYL Nexus publishes real settlement letters on our Instagram at @sryl_nexus. Client names and account numbers are blurred, but the bank letterhead, settlement amounts, and NOC confirmations are visible. If a consultant cannot show you anything comparable, ask yourself why.
Are they transparent about the process and honest about the outcome?
This is perhaps the hardest thing to judge, but it is also the most telling. Fraudulent operators tell you exactly what you want to hear. They promise guaranteed outcomes, specific settlement percentages, and fast timelines — without knowing anything about your case.
Real debt consultants are honest about what is possible and what is not. Every loan case is different. The settlement outcome depends on the lender, the loan type, the NPA stage, the borrower's situation, and dozens of other factors. No honest professional can guarantee a specific result before reviewing the case in detail.
- They ask detailed questions about your loan, lender, and current status before quoting any outcome
- They explain the process clearly — what happens after you pay, step by step
- They acknowledge risks and give you a realistic picture, not just the best-case scenario
- They answer your questions without pressure or urgency tactics
- "Guaranteed 70% waiver" — no one can guarantee this without reviewing your case
- "Pay today or we cannot help you" — this is pressure, not professionalism
- Promises to remove the settled status from your CIBIL permanently — this is legally impossible
Quick Reference: Genuine Consultant vs. Fraudulent Operator
| What to check | Legitimate consultant | Fraudulent operator |
|---|---|---|
| Written service agreement | Provided immediately after payment | Refused or delayed |
| Payment method | Official company account | Personal UPI or individual name |
| Physical address | Verifiable on Google Maps | No address, WhatsApp only |
| Proof of past work | Real settlement letters shown | Generic claims, no documents |
| Outcome promises | Honest, case-dependent | Guaranteed results, no caveats |
| Communication after payment | Regular updates, documented | Goes quiet or asks for more money |
A Note on Why This Problem Is So Common
People in debt are in a vulnerable position. They are often dealing with recovery harassment, family pressure, and genuine financial panic. Fraudulent operators specifically target people in this state — because vulnerability reduces the ability to think critically, and desperation makes quick promises attractive.
The single best thing you can do before engaging anyone for debt help is to slow down. A genuine consultant will not pressure you into a same-day decision. They will answer your questions, give you a written agreement, and let you verify their credentials in your own time. If someone is rushing you, that urgency is a tactic, not a reason to act.

- Written service agreement provided before you pay
- Payment goes to an official company bank account under the company name
